A delegation from IDH Trade, representing the Cocoa & Forests Initiative (CFI), led by Program Manager, Madam Glowen Kyei-Mensah, has donated 650 Green Ghana T-shirts and 150,000 tree seedlings to support the 2024 edition of Green Ghana Day.
The donation was received by the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources responsible for Lands and Forestry, Hon. Akwasi Konadu, on behalf of the Sector Minister, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor.
Hon. Akwasi Konadu expressed gratitude to CFI for their generous contributions and their continued collaboration with the Ministry over the years.
He emphasized the importance of tree planting, stating that “the forest is in competition to be maintained, and their survival will depend on our cultivation.
Therefore, we need to plant more trees to improve human survival and reduce the effects of global warming.”
“The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources appreciates the support and looks forward to continued collaboration” he said.
The Chairman of the National Green Ghana Committee, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio, urged the CFI team to identify more areas for collaboration and support to ensure the success of the Green Ghana Day initiative.
Madam Baaba Woode, Country Relations Manager of World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) also indicated that WCF’s substantial contribution of 150,000 tree seedlings will be planted at various hotspot area for reafforestation among others in the Asunafo Asutifi Districts of the Ahafo Region.
This donation demonstrates CFI’s commitment to environmental sustainability and reforestation efforts in Ghana.
