Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit 2024: Political Parties Urged To Prioritize Agriculture And Develop National Blueprint

 

Ghana’s agricultural sector is facing numerous challenges, including low yields and climate change, highlighting the need for a strategic approach to realize its potential. To address this, political parties are being urged to prioritize agriculture in their conversations and develop a national plan to ensure continuity and progress.

 

Rev. Evans Kyere- Mensah , Co-founder of Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit 2024, emphasize that Ghana must have a national conversation on agriculture, ensuring a unified approach to achieving food security and sovereignty ². This requires:

Speaking at Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit 2024 at UPSA, he called for Government collaboration Partnering to build a national development blueprint. Providing vision and direction for agricultural growth and empowering local communities to drive agricultural development.

 

At the 2024 Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit, Public Relations Officer Tanko Bagbara highlighted the ministry’s dedication to empowering youth for successful agricultural careers.

He emphasized that while the government will provide infrastructure and opportunities, youth-driven innovation and energy are vital to unlocking agriculture’s vast potential.

 

Mr Tanko, who spoke on behalf of deputy Agric minister Frimpong Addo says though the government will provide the infrastructure and opportunities, it will take the innovation,energy, and drive from the youth that can elevate agriculture to a new height.

 

The ministry’s commitment to empowering youth in agriculture is crucial for Ghana’s economic development. With agriculture projected to grow, the sector is expected to play a significant role in driving economic transformation and job creation
