October Ranch Agro and Livestock Industry, a rapidly growing agribusiness established four years ago to support food security, has been recognized as the 2nd runner-up at the 40th National Farmers’ Day celebration held in Aboffour in the Offinso Municipality. The event, which honored the hard work of local farmers, drew hundreds of attendees, including high-profile guests and community leaders.
Located in Offinso Bonsua, October Ranch is a diversified farm operation, boasting 50,000 live birds, 150 pigs, stocks of catfish and tilapia, a 30-acre maize plantation, and a range of cultivated vegetables. This recognition highlights the enterprise’s substantial contribution to food production in the region.
Mr. Anim Addo Sampong, the Chief Executive Officer of October Ranch, expressed his gratitude for the award. “This recognition motivates us to expand our production capacity and tackle the looming global food crisis,” he said. “As long as we have fertile land and the energy to produce, we will continue to feed the world and bring relief to those who face food insecurity.”
Looking ahead, Mr. Sampong aims to position Ghana as a prominent food producer on the African continent. He noted that his team is developing strategic plans to achieve national recognition as a leading food producer.
Mr. Sampong also appealed to funding agencies to support rural youth in agriculture, emphasizing the importance of providing resources to enable year-round farming. “With the right support, young farmers can achieve sustainable livelihoods and significantly increase production capacity,” he stated.
He further urged the Offinso Municipal Assembly to prioritize improving road access to agricultural centers, which he believes would streamline logistics and enhance food distribution within the municipality.
The recognition of October Ranch Agro and Livestock Industry reflects a broader commitment to advancing agriculture in Offinso and addressing food security challenges.
